What did I learn at the meeting.

So I went to the orientation meeting for the Gastric Bypass the Lap Band wasn't an option with this meeting.. Didn't know that.. But, These are my thoughts on this....

This life is not the life for me...

First off look at your thumb that would be you stomach... You can't even put a good drink of water in that thing.. Could you????

Never to eat but a 1/4 cup of protein 3 times a day, and making it take 30 minutes to eat, no faster or you will be in pain, for 6 months is not the life for me.

Drinking 64 Ounces of water sipping through a straw all day (they said it is hard to intake that much water through a straw all day. Many people end up in the hospital dehydrated. Never to glug water when your thirsty ever again...is not the life for me.

Never to drink Milk, never to eat a piece of fruit, never to eat a salad for 6 months is not the life for me.

To look gaunt for a long long time is not the life for me.

To pay just The Doctor $30,000. plus then all the other physicians on top of that is not the life for me.

Alternatives..

Get off my lazy fat butt and walk, and eat right, and quit being a lazy yahoo... That is the life for me.....

Sorry, guys but, I really don't think that bypass is the life for me.... or even the Lap-Band is for me.

So the plan now... I go to the insulin nurse on Tuesday and the dietitian on Thursday and start walking... hmmm This will be the life for me.

I will keep anyone interested in my progress... Happy Day

The neighbor across the street had it done and was in the hospital because she didn't follow the doctors instructions. She got the weight off and now just looks unhappy all the time. She is skinny though. You do what is right for you. Have a great day. :)

I dont want you to do it either, life without flavor sucks, but I want you to be healthy, grandpa's family history sucks but he was able to beat all the odds and if you really want to, you can too! I wish that we were closer so we could motivate eachother, try to get Jessica on board with you so the road is not so lonely, Brighton would love the walks anyways :) love ya!

Well, honey, you know I would have supported you 100% on this, but I must say I'm relieved.
I know every surgery has the risk of complications, but a woman in town had her husband die from gastric bypass surgery complications.
And I had a friend who had a card from her doctor, explaining the gastric bypass for restaurants, but they still pitched a fit when she wanted to order off the kids menu (hey, it's a sale - what do they care, really???)
I wish you the very best on your journey. I've battled with my weight my entire life, and am the heaviest I've ever been - but I couldn't do the gastric bypass.
I'm with you: that's not the life for me.

sending you lots of hugs
& love,
mo

It sounds like a one way ticket to hell.
Losing weight and keeping it off is not easy at all. But I know with support from your family and friends that you (and it probably wouldn't hurt them or me either) can do it. Make it a family thing...so you are all in the same boat.
Drink your water before your meals (so you fill up on what you need first not what you want). Walk walk walk and know that you are stronger than your cravings.
Good luck Sweetie, I know you can do it...for yourself and those sweet grandbaby's!

Wow, I'm glad to read this. I am actually attending an orientation this Saturday. However, I think I've already decided that I'm not interested. I have lots of weight to lose and I think I'm just going to make a good hard effort to do it the good old fashion way. I did start a separate blog for my weightloss efforts. Feel free to check it out. dottiesjourney dot blogspot dot com.
