Grandparents

Things with the Grandparents are not good. Grandpa is just hanging out. He still won't let the heater in the house be on. "it's using to much power and that son of a bitch keeps turning it on"......"Turn the TV off it is using electricity!!!". At 10:00am yesterday grandpa was drinking a glass of wine... he hadn't ate yet. On that note I say if ya can make it to 91 years young..Say "Cheers"... What's the point at that age and the way his mind wanders, your just waiting for the bus anyway.. So enjoy Grandpa!!!

Now to Grandma...No bath still, Not wearing her partial teeth... now her daily diet consists of Cake in the morning and wine the rest of the time... She has taken to stealing my aunts prescriptions.. I really think she will be in a home soon. She won't take her medication which includes Thyroid... So she is whacked... She is a mess. She is a very stubborn woman. She won't let my aunt take her to get her blood drawn. She can still walk, go to the bathroom, make grandpa some eggs for breakfast and refill his wine glass. So it is easy to look at this and say they need to go in a home. But, when their mind is still there somewhat and they still can function somewhat. It is a fine line we are on. So that is just a mini update to the state of The Grandparents currently..... As a silly friend of mine says all the time... "life goes on"....

It really stinks that people get the chance to live nice long lives and their minds and bodies give out on them. Why can't people just get old and be able to enjoy it??

Hang in there, kiddo.

Hey, if she can still refill Grampa's wine glass...

My Dad is 81 and can get a bit cantankerous time and again, but mostly he's a big old sweetie pie as he has always been, so I figure as long as he's not dangerous to himself, my mother, me or my cats he can pretty much do whatever he he pleases.

Oh the challenges of aging...and for those taking care of the old folks! Taking the wrong meds can be quite dangerous, as well as NOT taking the ones prescribed. Sigh. Not a good situation. I'm sure you'll figure out what to do. Good luck.

Hugs...

We're going through some of this with MIL... Trying to keep her in her home as long as possible, but it's not easy.
