Dishwasher Trouble

I am tired of washing dishes. Yep, My supposedly wonderful Maytag that is only 4 years old and out of warranty has died on me a couple weeks before Christmas.

I am ready for a new one.

So point being. Anyone out there who can recommend a dishwasher at a decent price. I only want to pay about $400.00 .

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Callie, sorry to hear about your dishwasher. For $400 you won't get a wonderful dishwasher so if you can try to look for one that had its price reduced to $400. You get what you pay for unfortunately. Ask the salesperson about the water flow drumming on the insides of the walls that cause the noise or if it stays towards the centre of the machine, ask about how many wash wands, make sure the racks are nylon coated and not plastic coated, ask about warranty/installantion and I hope it all goes well. I have a Frigidaire and I love it. I used to sell GE appliances and I thought they were wonderful however I would recommend only the higher end models. Stay away from GE's lines such as Moffat... perhaps that's only available in Canada.

I don't mean to quell your dreams of a new dishwasher, but aren't Maytags supposed to be reliable? For four hundred bucks can't you get your existing one fixed?
This is just my curiosity - I've never had a dish washer, other than my own two hands...

Hey Callie,
Sorry to hear about the death of your dishwasher, that stinks!
I don't know about $400. ones when we built out house our we kinda went the deluxe route and got a Bosch. I love it, the buttons are under the counter so little kids leave them alone, and the most important thing it's so quiet you can hardly tell it's running. I also like the fact that it actually drys the dishes and does not vent out of the front of the dishwasher. It is great and we have been very pleased with it.
Good luck. You may want to go to the library and look at Consumer Reports.
